Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi condoled the death of eminent artist Benu Mishra who passed away on Wednesday.

In a statement issued in Guwahati on Wednesday, Governor Prof Mukhi said, “I am deeply pained and grieved by the passing away of Benu Mishra, a towering personality who added a new dimension to the discipline of visual art. His death will undoubtedly create a void in the artists’ fraternity of the state.’
“I pray to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and express my deep condolences to the bereaved family members,” the Governor added.
State chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal also condoled the demise of acclaimed artist Benu Mishra, who breathed his last on Wednesday morning.
In a statement, the chief minister said, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of noted artist Benu Mishra. He was an artist par-excellence, who created vibrantly coloured narratives in his paintings. His death is an irreparable loss to the cultural landscape of Assam. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and well-wishers in this time of grief.”
State industries and commerce minister Chandra Mohan Patowary also condoled the demise of noted artist Benu Mishra.
In a condolence statement, the minister stated, “Benu Mishra immensely contributed for development of art, painting and sculpture in Assam. His painting and sculpture bear testimony to the artist’s profundity. His demise has created an irreparable void in the creative arena of the State.”
The minister also prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed his condolences to members of the bereaved family.
