Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar which released in China on January 19 (Friday), opened to great numbers on the first day itself. The Aamir Khan starrer which was a moderate hit in India, earned around Rs 200 crore in the first two days of its release.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures: “#SecretSuperstar packs a SOLID PUNCH in its opening weekend in China… Close to Rs 175 cr in 3 days… MIND-BOGGLING indeed…Fri $ 6.88 mn Sat $ 10.50 mn Sun $ 9.84 mn Total : $ 27.22 million (Rs 174.10 cr).”
This is the second time an Indian film has managed to top Chinese box office in less than a year.
Aamir earlier film Dangal broke all records in China. Dangal had done business of Rs 1459 crore in China, making its total earning Rs 2000 crore across the globe. This had further cemented Dangal’s position as one of the top 5 highest grossing non-English language films of all time.
The actor was recently in China to whip up support for the film.
The opening day figure is the highest by any Indian movie, including counting that of Dangal – Aamir’s previous movie that broke records in China. The actor became a household name in China after Dangal released there last year.
