Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday laid the foundation stone for the new academic building for Manipur Public School, Koirengi in Imphal’s East District.

The project is undertaken by Manipur Minorities and OBC Economic Development Society (MOBEDS). The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 10.80 crore under the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs and will include new classrooms, headmaster’s room, common rooms, library, laboratories, toilets and separate hostels for boys and girls.

The Chief Minister stated that he had drafted a request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Nirmala Sitharaman, Defense Minister, Amit Shah, BJP National President and Ram Madhav, BJP General Secretary for the North East Region to take up the necessary steps to vacate Koirengei Old Air-field.

Located adjacent to Manipur Public School, the airfield is currently occupied by the Territorial Army.

The area is surrounded by civil residential localities but is also closely associated with the history of Manipur, he stated.

N Biren Singh further stated that Manipur Public School was one of the best schools of the state. And in order to further develop it into a hub of knowledge and learning, teachers, students and guardians must work together.

The CM is who is the Chairman of the Manipur Public School Society vowed to look into the developmental needs of the school.

The new government would not tolerate instances of unlawful activities and taking matters into one’s own hand, N Biren Singh emphasized.
