A one-day district level stakeholders’ workshop on ‘Revision of State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC-Version 2)’ was held under the aegis of Directorate of Environment at Jiribam in Manipur on Sunday.

The Directorate has been conducting series of interactive programmes with different stakeholders for revision of SAPCC, Manipur.

The objective of the workshop is to provide a platform for working of district level officers and subject experts by sharing knowledge on key sectors and drafting of strategies on climate change.

Advisor Prof Mohendro of State Climate Change Manipur, Adhakshya Jiribam Kh Janki Devi, chairperson S Santi Devi, Jiribam Municipal Council were among the dignitaries present in the inaugural function of the workshop.

Assistant project officer Kh Nimaichand Singh of Mission for Organic value chain development for NE region, Department of Agriculture, asistant engineer Virendra Rajkumar of Command areas development authority, joint director Dr Ng Ibotombi Singh of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry and managing director Thangjam Joy Kumar Singh of Thangjam Agro Industries made their presentations as resources persons on climate change issues.

Earlier in his key note address, development officer Dr N Sanamacha Meetei of Directorate of Environment said the Government of India has taken up measures to promote sustainable development and address the threat of climate change of national and sub-national levels.

National Action Plan on Climate Change formed in 2013 with the objective to protect the poor and vulnerable sections of the society through inclusive and sustainable development strategy sensitive to climate change.

Directorate of Environment, being the state nodal agency for climate, in collaboration with 20 line government departments/agencies and local subject experts in diverse fields prepared SAPCC 2013 to address the existing as well as future challenges of climate change.
