Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Friday inspected the road connecting Lad Umsaw with Mawmaram near Sohïong via Mawlyndep.
The chief minister along with his team halted at various places during the drive from Mawmaram and took stock of the progress of improvement work of the road.
Conrad was of the view that once completed, the road will greatly benefit the people from villages along the route besides providing an opportunity to tourists travelling to various tourist destinations such as Sohra or Cherapunjee and West Khasi Hills to enjoy the beautiful and scenic countryside.
Conrad took to Twitter to apprise about his visit.

He also exuded confidence that the alternate route would allow tourists and other vehicles travelling to East and West Khasi Hills to bypass the heavy city traffic and help decongest the city.
The chief minister was accompanied by PWD secretary, P R Marwein, CE PWD (Roads), L D Suchiang and other PWD officials.
