Dhemaji topped the merit list in the district wise performance in the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) 2019 declared by Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) on Wednesday.
Among the total of 12650 candidates who had appeared in the matriculation examination from Dhemaji, 10535 passed the examination with a pass percentage of 83.28 per cent.
As many 1782 secured first division, 4039 secured second division and 4714 secured third division.
Sivasagar came distant second with a pass percentage of 70.20 per cent and Nalbari came third with a pass percentage of 70.08 per cent.
Meghashree Borah of Sankardev Shishu Bidya Niketan, Narayanpur of Lakhimpur district topped the merit list with total marks of 594 out of 600.
Chinmoy Hazarika of Don Bosco High School, Baghchung in Jorhat shared the second position with Pratyasha Medhi of Saint Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Guwahati.
The third position is shared by Afreen Ahmed of Christjyoti School in Nagaon and Anushree Bhuyan of Saint Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Guwahati.
A total of 342691 candidates took the HSLC examination this year and 202508 candidates passed the examination with an overall pass percentage of 60.23 per cent.
Among these 160264 were male while the number of female candidates who had appeared in the matriculation examination were 175939.
Among the male candidates 24918 secured first division, 34866 secured second division and 40691 passed in the third division.
The pass percentage of male candidates is 62.69 per cent.
As many as 175939 female candidates took the examination, among whom 102033 passed the examination.
As many as 23682 passed in the first division, 36154 passed in the second division and 42198 passed in the third division.
As many as 6488 among the applied candidates were absent while the results of 10 candidates have been withheld.
In this year’s HSLC examination 396 candidates were expelled.
In the Assam High Madrassa Examination 2019, 9127 candidates took the examination and 5310 came out successful with a pass percentage of 58.18 per cent.
