Despite the opposition parties in Tripura have demanded for fresh election for the Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency, alleging massive booth capturing and false voting, the Election Commission of India (ECI) have allowed repoll only in 131 polling stations.
This has come to light after a fax message from the Ministry of Home Affairs has been circulated on the social media.
However, the State Election Commission has denied that they have received any such information.
According to the fax message from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Tripura chief secretary, home secretary and DGP, Tripura on the recommendations of the Election Commission of India asking for immediate necessary steps for deployment of central paramilitary forces for free and fair repoll in 131 polling stations in Tripura West parliamentary constituency.
Through the fax message, the Home Ministry also asked the Tripura chief secretary, home secretary and DGP to ensure deployment of total 15 companies of the Border Security Force (BSF) including 11 coys from Assam and four existing companies of CRPF till completion of the repoll process.
However, there is no mention of the date of the proposed repoll in Tripura West parliamentary constituency.
