Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (IPFT) workers and supporters on Wednesday came out to the street and observed road blockade in three places at Gandachara sub-division under Dhalai district in Tripura.
The IPFT workers and supporters observed the road blockade in protest against alleged attack on party supporters allegedly by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers on Tuesday.

Several IPFT activists were injured in the incident.
The injured IPFT workers have been identified as Natunjoy Chakma, Etaram Reang and Hemandra Reangand who were polling agents of the tribal party.
The injured IPFT workers have been admitted to the Gandachara hospital after they sustained serious injuries in the alleged attack by BJP goons.

The Tripura East Lok Sabha constituency went to polls in the third phase on April 23, 2019.

The polling in this Lok Sabha constituency in Tripura was supposed to be conducted in the second phase on April 18 and due to law and order problem, the Election Commission of India postponed the election to the seat to the third phase.
The IPFT supporters alleged that BJP supporters had beaten IPFT leaders and supporters on Tuesday.
In connection with the incident, the IPFT lodged a complaint with the police but no action has been taken so far.
As no one was arrested in the case, the IPFT supporters observed road blockade in three places including Gandachara-Ambassa, Gandachara-Amarpur and Gandachara-Raishyabari road.
The IPFT supporters observed the road blockade programme amidst section 144 of CrPC being imposed by the district administration.
IPFT supporters staged road blockade demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
However, no official visited the places of road blockade.
Due to the road blockade programme, the common people faced massive trouble in Gandachara.
It may be mentioned that though the IPFT and BJP are allies in the coalition government in Tripura, both the parties are fighting the Lok Sabha polls in the state separately.
