The activists and volunteers of Adi Baane Kebang Women Wing (ABKWW) East Siang Unit which has been working toward in doing away or stop the the drug and Indian Made Foreign Liquor menace in the Nagaland district have seized several bottles of IMFL during the dry days of election.
In carrying out the order of district magistrate of East Siang District, declaring four days dry day from April 9 to April 12 in connection with the general election, a team of Adi Baane Kebang Women Wing East Siang District Unit led by its president Smty Oti Sitang Eko and Smty Oming Jamoh Pertin, general secretary seized several bottles of IMFL at villages like Siluk, Kiyit under Mebo sub-division and Berung and 5 mile villages under Pasighat totaling 735 numbers of bottles on April 10 last, informed president of ABKWW.
All the seized bottles were destroyed by the team near general cremation ground Pasighat on the same day which was witnessed by DEO cum DC East Siang district, Dr Smti Kinny Singh and superintendent of police, Prashant Gautam including EAC (judicial) and superintendent of Tax and Excise, East Siang district.
It is worth mentioning here that ABKWW have been working all these years for curbing our drugs and IMFL menace in the Adi belt and similar steps are also being taken up by ABKWW Lower Dibang Valley Unit under Lower Dibang Valley district.
“In recent time, several bottles of illegal IMFL were seized and destroyed at Lower Dibang Valley by ABKWW Lower Dibang Valley team and the drive will continue to make the society free from such IMFL and drug menace,” said Danggap Perme Tayeng, general secretary, ABKWW of Lower Dibang Valley while talking to this correspondent.
