The BJP’s woman face in Manipur Kim Gangte has quit the party over being denied ticket.
Reports stated that the former Lok Sabha MP from Manipur and BJP spokesperson Kim was peeved over the fact that the ticket for the Outer Manipur seat was given to the party’s state unit vice-president Benjamin Mate.
Kim has alleged that the ticket has been given to Benjamin “under pressure from various terrorist groups”.
The BJP has outright rejected her allegations that ticket was issued to Benjamin “under pressure of terrorists”.
Kim had won the Outer Manipur seat on a CPI ticket in 1998. The first woman MP of the state said she joined BJP ahead of the 2017 Assembly polls.
