Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) working president, Bhaichung Bhutia will be contesting the Assembly election from two seats in the State.
Former Indian football team skipper is contesting the election from Gangtok and Tumin-Lingee constituencies in East Sikkim.
Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) has released its fourth list of nine candidates for the upcoming assembly election in the State here on Thursday.
In the fourth list, HSP candidates for the Assembly election are Keshar Lal Thapa for Gyalshing-Bermiok, Durga Bahadur Chettri for Temi Namphing, Prakash Sharma for Maneybong Dentam, Hukum Chandra Rai for Namchi Singhithang, Tashi Topgay Bhutia for Rinchenpong, Sukhraj Subba for Soreng-Chakung and Philip Lamichaney for Upper Burtuk constituency.
Speaking to media persons, Bhaichung Bhutia expressed that it was the historic day for him to contest the election in his own home State for the first time. He alleged that SDF government has been failed to fulfill the basic needs to the people of Sikkim.
He added that the State has still been lacking proper roads, power and water supply and other amenities. He further alleged of rampant corruption in the State and problems of increasing suicides and unemployment.
Bhutia stated that the mission of HSP was to make Sikkim corruption-free. He thanked the party for given two seats in this election. “I am very happy that the party gave me an opportunity to work from Gangtok and Tumin-Lingee and I will work for these two constituencies by keeping both close to my heart,” he expressed.
He has also prepared mini-manifestos for both constituencies. He also read out various programmes for both constituencies from mini-manifesto.
He mentioned to make a U-16 football team each from Gangtok and Tumin-Lingee constituencies and to give them the national exposure. He also assured to identify two talented U-16 players from these constituencies to take them for trial and training in Barcelona within one year.
