The Naga People’s Front (NPF) will hand over party tickets to its candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha poll and the Assembly by-election on March 19, 2019 during a function to be held at the NPF central office in Kohima.
While the NPF on Saturday named former legislator Toshipokba Longkumer as the party candidate for the by-election to 26 Aonglenden Assembly constituency scheduled to be held simultaneously with the parliamentary polls on April 11, it is yet to announce its candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland.
In the last Assembly elections held in February, Toshipokba lost the poll battle to National Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate Imtikumzuk Longkumer by 88 votes.
The by-election to the 26 Aonglenden Assembly constituency has been necessitated following the demise of Imtikumzuk on September 22, 2018.
According to information, the party ticket distribution ceremony will be held at 11 am.
While the ceremony will be chaired by Apong Pongener, working president of the Naga People’s Front, the invocation will be delivered by MLA Kejong Chang.
The welcome address will be delivered by working president Huska Yepthomi while the party tickets will be handed over to the candidates by the party president Shurhozelie Liezietsu.
The function will also be addressed by the Naga People’s Front candidates; lmkong L. Imchen, MLA; K.G. Kenye, party’s secretary general and Rajya Sabha and T.R. Zeliang, the leader of the NPF Legislature Party.
