Manipur journalist Kishorechandra Wangkhem on Thursday had completed 100 days of staying in jail but his wife still continues to fight a long battle in seeking justice for her husband.
Kishorechandra’s wife Ranjita Elangbam whose main priority is family had found herself in a completely challenging situation ever since her husband was arrested under the draconian National Security Act (NSA) for criticizing the Manipur Government and the Prime Minister.
As per reports, Ranjita is fighting herself everyday meeting lawyers and activists trying in every possible way to get her husband released from jail.
Moreover, the media who also protested against the journalist’s arrest has now forgotten about the case and is not helping his family much.
Ranjita said that the Socialist Students’ Union of Manipur, Manipur Students’ Association, Delhi (MSAD), the Human Rights Law Network is helping her in fighting the case.
She also said that her two daughters have been badly missing their father ever since he went to jail and they often ask her that when their father will arrive home.
Kishorechandra’s lawyer N Victor disclosed that the Imphal High Court has completed hearings in the case and is likely to pronounce its verdict soon.
The Manipur journalist was first arrested on November 21, 2018 and charged with sedition for a Facebook video critical of the state chief minister. But a local court threw out the sedition charges following which he was re-arrested on November 27, this time under the NSA.
