In a recent T20 women’s match between Mizoram and Madhya Pradesh, the former was bundled for just 9 runs.
The target was overhauled in the first over itself.
According to a report in the national media, the match took place at the Palmyra Cricket Ground in Pondicherry – where the Mizoram team was bundled out for just 9 runs in 13.5 overs.
Only one of the batters managed to open the account, scoring unbeaten 6 runs, while a total of 9 batters were dismissed for ducks.
The only batswoman who could stand against Madhya Pradesh’s bowling attack was Apurwa Bhardwaj, who scored 6 runs while coming out to bat at No. 5 position.
Apurwa stood on the crease for 25 balls, hitting one boundary in the process but seemed helpless as wickets kept tumbling from the other end of the pitch. The team even failed to get the aggregate total to double figures, with 3 extra runs taking the total to 9 runs.
A total of 7 bowlers were used by Madhya Pradesh in the 13.5 overs that were bowled after Mizoram came out to bat first. Only one bowler failed to be among wickets, with a total of 6 managing to get a scalp at least. Tarang Jha, the strike bowler for the MP team, emerged as the most successful of the lot, by picking up 4 for 2 in 4 overs.
Mizoram have been disappointing with the bat in the tournament, incurring their second successive failure.
