In a successful operation against the illegal coal transporters, Darrang Police in the district of Assam on Saturday night seized six coal laden multi axle trucks allegedly moving without legal documents from Tinsukia towards other states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana.

Acting on some secret information, a police team led by deputy superintendent of police (HQ), Darrang, Mamoni Hazarika intercepted several trucks carrying coal on National Highway 15 in Dalgaon and seized six trucks, five registered in Uttar Pradesh with numbers UP-42-BT-4222, UP-42-BT-2811, UP-42-BT-4552, UP-15-DT-7764, UP-15-DT-8168 and other in Haryana with registration number HR-37-D-7896 on charges of illegal transportation of coal.

The police till filing of this report have not made any official statement before media, but sources said that investigation in this regard is going on.

Mention may be made here that normally these coal laden trucks used to move via Koliabor, Jorabat, Guwahati route, however, very recently a section of such trucks have been carrying coal through the Tezpur-Mangaldai route.
