Uncertainty looms large over the opening of the Pathsala ITI even after completion of construction works of its building and infrastructure close to the Pathsala railway station in Barpeta district of Assam.

The institute was expected to provide technical education to the students of the locality thus generating employment.

There is no proper answer from the authority concerned as to when it will open for the students and the reason for the delay.

Sukur Ali Ahmed, the then PHE and minority development minister declared open the newly constructed building of Pathsala ITI on March 31, 2016.

But due to the reason best known to the authority, the student were yet to admitted in the institution. Mention may be made that except a chowkidar no employee have been appointed in the institution till date.

The construction work of the institution incurred heavy expenditure and electricity connection is not done in the campus yet.

The students and guardians of the locality earlier expressed happiness and kept their hopes alive but now their hopes seem to have fizzled out into thin air.

Several demands from various organizations of the locality to open the institution for the students were raised to but all these went in vain.

Meanwhile, the president of Pathsala Bazar Committee, advocate Giridhar Choudhury and secretary Jiten Talukdar have recently raised demands to the authority to make early arrangement for opening of the institution for the greater interest of the students.
