During an anti-drugs drive, the Tripura police destroyed marijuana (locally known as ganja) worth Rs three crores by burning the seized consignment, said a top official on Thursday.
This is the second such incident in less than 48 hours and only a day back the police destroyed marijuana and contraband of Rs one crore value which were seized by the Jirana and Agartala Airport police stations.
Under the supervision of Director General of Police AK Shukla the destroying of the marijuana took place at RK Nagar industrial estate in the outskirts of capital Agartala.
The DGP informed that the police after the new government came to power under the leadership of Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has become proactive in makeing the state drugs free.
The consignment of marijuana that was destroyed today was seized by the North Tripura police.
