The tableau of Tripura won the best prize in this year’s Republic Day parade.
The theme of the Tripura tableau was ‘Empowering Rural Economy the Gandhian Way’.
The second prize for state tableau was won by Jammu and Kashmir while the state of Punjab was placed in the third spot.
Informing about the results on his Twitter handle on Monday, Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb stated that it was a “moment of immense pride for Tripura!” as “Our Tableau at Republic Day 2019 Parade wins the 1st prize.”
Congratulating the team involved in it, chief minister Deb tweeted: “Congratulations to the entire team who worked hard and made this incredible achievement possible!”
On the other hand, in the department category, the CISF and ICAR shared the honour jointly. Navy Children`s School Chanakyapuri, Delhi won the award for the best performing school while the Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya Kishan Ganj, Delhi, got the consolation prize, say media reports.
Meanwhile, a special prize was conferred to CPWD for the floral decoration in New Delhi.
Talking to a section of media persons, Tripura’s Information and Cultural Affairs deputy director Bhaskar Das Gupta said: “It was a test for the best and the state depicted the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi towards the rural economy through its tableau”
It may be mentioned that Punjab won the third prize for depicting the Jallianwala Bagh incident in a beautiful manner.
After winning second prize for state tableau, Nazir Ladakhi, deputy secretary to the Jammu and Kashmir government told the media: “It is a matter of privilege to be a part of the Republic Day parade and getting the second prize from the Defence Minister.”
