The much awaited Indian Asean car rally 2018, which will traverse through four countries zigzagging nearly 7000 km in 24 days, will be ceremonially flagged off from Guwahati on Thursday. This was stated in a press release issued by North East Federation of International Trade (NEFIT) on Thursday.

Organized by the North East Federation of International Trade (NEFIT), the rally will start from Guwahati and travel through Kohima in Nagaland, Imphal in Manipur, Kalyemo in Myanmar, Mandalaya, Bagan, Yangon and Bangkok in Thailand and Vientiane in Laos before returning to Guwahati.

Nearly 50 enthusiastic participants from all over the country are expected to take part in this mega event.

The NEFIT has been working in promotion of trade and business with neighbouring countries for years and this rally is also part of the same endeavour.

Cars ready for the rally

The vehicles have been sponsored by Tata Motors and all the vehicles will be Tata Hexa. Ratan Tata, former Chairman of Tata Sons, is expected to attend the ceremonial closing ceremony on February 3 next in Guwahati coinciding with the Advantage Assam business summit.

The Oil India Limited, Bohniman Systems, Gonand are the logo sponsors of the rally. Besides the Government of Assam, Government of Nagaland and Government of Manipur have also provided logistical support to the rally.

The main motto of the rally is to spread the awareness against the wanton killings of the one horned rhinos of Assam. The rally will travel through the route, which is generally considered the smuggling route of this trade with South East Asia as the main market of Assam’s one horned rhinos, the release added.
