NC Hills Autonomous Council and Dima Hasao district administration distributed the sanctioning letters for incentives of Rs. 2500 each to sixty tea garden workers at the Chah Bagan Dhan Puraskar Mela held at Gunjung Tea Estate near Haflong in Dima Hasao district.
During the last winter budget session the Assam Government had introduced the scheme to provide Rs. 5,000 each to the tea gardeners of Assam and passed the same.
As the first step for the scheme, Rs.2,500 shall be given as incentive to all the tea garden workers of Assam who had opened bank account during the demonetisation period.
After proper maintenance of the bank account for at least six months, another instalment amounting the same shall also be provided to them. The workers who have not opened bank accounts are also benefitted under all the schemes launched by the Central and State Government from time to time by the poorer citizen after opening bank accounts including this scheme.

The programme was organised by Dima Hasao District administration in association with NC Hills Autonomous Council and Thanglai Daolagupu proprietor of Gunjung Tea Garden.
NC Hills Autonomous Council CEM Debolal Gorlosa lauded the steps taken by the Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, for financial uplift of poorer and needy sections of people under the slogan “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaash”. He expressed his happiness in implementing schemes introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also encouraged the villagers and tea garden workers to open bank accounts so that various schemes offered by the government may reach them.
The programme was also attended by NCHAC chairperson Ranu Langthasa, EM in-charge Education & Tourism Kulendra Daolagupu, Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Devajyoti Harazika among others.
