A separate Bodoland will be formed sooner or later. The agitation demanding a separate Bodoland will continue in the coming days. All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) president Pramod Boro said this in Korajhar on Tuesday.
Boro said a separate Bodoland will be created within the framework of the Constitution while participating in the golden jubilee celebration of the undivided Goalpara unit of ABSU at Dotma in Kokrajhar of Assam’s BTAD region.
The Kokrajhar unit of ABSU is also celebrating its 49th foundation day.
Stating that the Bodoland issue is less complex compared to the Naga problem or the Kashmir issue, the ABSU president urged the government for an early solution to the Bodoland issue. Meanwhile, leader of the Bidarbha movement, Anil Javed was of the opinion that the government at the Centre should take a clear cut policy decision towards creation of new states. Javed also said creation of new states is mandatory for all round development of any region.
Reacting to the comment made by BTC supremo Hagrama Mohilary demanding accountability from the ABSU, Pramod Boro said, a regional organization is not accountable, rather a democratically elected government is accountable to the people.
While denouncing the ‘instigating’ comments made by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the NRC, Boro was of the view that some vicious circles in the state of Assam do not want the NRC to be updated. Boro also urged all sections of the people to maintain restraint and allow peace to prevail under the prevailing circumstances when the process of updating the NRC is underway.
The celebration was also attended by all the top leaders of the Bodo students’ organization, leaders from the NDFB(P) and hundreds of general public.
