Kokrajhar District Administration in a bid to bring Tea Garden labourer’s close to the banking sector, distributed sanctioned letters under Assam Chah Bagichar Dhan Puraskar Mela Scheme.

This was done in a ceremonial distribution programme held today at Magurmari. 20 labourer’s were given sanction letters out of 1916 tea garden labourers.

In his speech, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Niranjan Baruah informed that under this scheme, the workers of the Tea Garden community will receive Rs. 2500 as first instalment and if they maintain their accounts they will get Rs. 2500 more in the second phase after six months. This scheme will benefit 6643 labourers in Kokrajhar district, he added.

Attending as Chief Guest of the programme, BTC Executive Member Rajib Brahma talked about the importance of bank accounts.

The bank officials of SBI and others also explained about various Government Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksa Yojana Atul Pension Yojana etc. which are being implemented by them.
