The All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) and its allies in  the movement for  Bodoland  statehood  like National Democratic Front of Boroland (P) and People’s Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM) today  staged three-hour protest dharna  to press for fulfillment  of their various demands including early solution to the long-standing demand of Bodoland state and political right to the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland area.

In Kokrajhar,  hundreds of people participated in the protest dharna at Upendra Nath Brahma (UNB) memorial  children Park from 10 am to 1 pm.

The  agitating  groups demanded  for formulation  of a national policy with regard to the issue of settlement of  the long-pending demand for a Bodoland state. Expedite the process of dialogue on Bodoland state issue at political level, fulfill the BJP’s commitments given in the election manifesto in 2014, ensure political rights to the Bodos living outside of the Proposed Bodoland Area and Grant ST Hills Status to the Bodos living in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. The dharna was held at all the district head quarters across proposed Bodoland state and in Assam.

The  Bodo statehood movement  groups have become part of the nationwide platform of organisations  demanding small states in different parts of the country.
