Legendary West Indian cricketer Sir Vivian Richards arrived in Guwahati on Saturday.
The right-hand batsman, the Brand Ambassador of American University of Antigua College of Medicine, is in the city as part of his campaign ‘Made for Medicine’.
According to media reports, Richards will participate in promotional events in Guwahati for the medical college.
As per reports, Richards landed at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Borhajhar at around 1:30 pm.
On his arrival in the city, Sir Vivian Richards while talking to media persons expressed his satisfaction at the weather in the city and said that he felt “very fresh”.
Sir Vivian Richards will be in Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast till December 27, 2018.
The American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine is a part of Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG).
The original ‘Master Blaster’ of world cricket, Sir Vivian Richards believes the university presents an opportunity to experience Antiguan tourism.
“There can’t be a better combination of academics and tourism than this for anyone wanting to study where we live,” the legendary cricketer said during his recent visit to Hyderabad, adding, “I am here to give an indication of how vibrant as people we are. We do have some things in common — like cricket. I am just happy to be here in India.”
Sir Vivian Richards also said, “Making comparisons about cricketing standards of India and the West Indies, he added, “No doubt, once upon a time we were a great cricket team. Now, India have taken over that role.”
