The defending champion, Wok XI has once again lifted the champions’ trophy of Sikkim Inter Church Football Tournament played at Paljor Stadium.
In the finals of the 7th edition of the tournament played this afternoon, Wok XI has outplayed another strong Indian Catholic Youth Movement [ICYM], Sikkim 3-0 to emerge as the champion of the tournament for second consecutive time.
Wok XI had reached finals of the tournament by defeating Christian Revival Church Sichey in the semi-final, while ICYM outplayed HFC United in another first semi-final to secure its berth in the finals.
In the final match, Tondup Lepcha scored a brace for Wok XI while his teammate Tomchan Lepcha contributed a goal in the victory of the team.
The final match has PCE-cum-Secretary Roads & Bridges Department, GT Dhungel as the chief guest, while Special Secretary UDHD, MT Sherpa was present as the guest of honour. The chief guest and the guest of honour handed over cash prizes and trophies to its winner. The winning team has received the cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with trophy while Rs 20,000 and trophy was given to runners-up team.
Ambrose Diyali of Mazzaroth Church was adjudged as the Highest Scorer for his 6 goals in the tournament while the Best Goalkeeper trophy was presented to Rakesh Pradhan of Christian Revival Church, Sichey and Best Discipline Team trophy to Embassy of Hope Samdur.
Binay Subba of Mangan United was awarded as the Promising Player and Prabhakar Pradhan of ICYM adjudged as the Man of the Tournament. Ismile Rai of ICYM awarded as the Man of the Final Match.
