Central Institute of Technology (CIT), Kokrajhar will be upgraded to Deemed University soon. It  is a clause of Bodo Accord 2003 and up gradation of the CIT in to a Deemed University was assured by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi during his visit at Kokrajhar on January 19, 2016.

Talking to reporters, Kampa Borgoyary deputy chief of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) said. “Two days back we had meeting with Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the secretary of MHRD at New Delhi. We were assured that CIT to be upgraded soon as a Deemed university.”

“As per the  BTC Accord 2003,the Government of India is going to fulfill our demands. Fulfillment of clauses has been taking place one by one and we will celebrate in a big manner  as soon as CIT is upgraded to a Deemed university.”

Borgoyary also termed it a great achievement. More development activities will be taking place in the CIT for the benefit of the students community for higher education.

Meanwhile, the students of CIT said that they had heard many times that CIT would be up gradated as a Deemed University but till now it has not become a reality. “So, we will be grateful  if this news becomes a reality as it will be beneficial for all of us,” they said.
