The ICFAI University, Agartala of Tripura organized a two day national seminar on the need to preserve the ‘oral traditional culture and history’ from the growing onslaught of technological short-cuts like What’sapp, Instagram , Facebook etc.
Speakers in the seminar from across the country spoke of the urgent need for preserving and protecting the traditional learning, culture through oral narration from short-cuts through technologies.
Former Vice Chancellor of the Gour-Banga University, Dr Achinta Biswas, Tripura University professor Asesh Gupta and many other scholars from across the country delivered valuable lectures and submitted papers on the chosen subject.
Altogether 53 papers were submitted and the seminar was enriched by cultural programmes showcased by leading artistes Tithi Chakraborty, Bijali Chakraborty and students of ICFAI University.
All the speakers also pointed out that because of desperation to secure jobs, students are being encouraged and, in certain cases, forced to study science at the cost of social science.
