The Assam Rifles apprehended one Liberation Tigers of Tribals (LTT) cadre along with arms and ammunition from Jirighat Market in Cachar district recently.
The nabbed militant along with the recovered items have been handed over by the Assam Rifles to the police for future investigations.
Informing this on its official Twitter handle on Monday, the Eastern Command stated: “NE Ops Unit of AR apprehended one Liberation Tigers of Tribals (LTT) cadre along with arms & amn (sic) from Jirighat Market in Cachar, Assam on 2 Nov. The individual along with recoveries have been handed over the police for the future investigations.”
The apprehended militant has been identified as Paominlun Khongsai.
According to media reports, the Kadamtala Battalion of the Assam Rifles under 22 Sector AR/IGAR (East) launched a joint operation with Assam Police on Friday during which LTT militant Paominlun Khongsai was nabbed from Jirighat market.
The media reports also revealed that the the nabbed individual confessed that he is an active cadre of the Liberation Tigers of Tribals (LTT).
It has been reported that the nabbed militant is a resident of Old Kaiphundai of Tamenglong district and was operating in Jiribam.
As per media reports, the LTT militant had possessed two foreign-made pistols along with live rounds of ammunition.
According to reports, the militant group LTT, since its formation in August 2018, has been involved in insurgent activities as well as criminal and illegal activities like kidnapping, extortion and illegal tax collection from the villages in Jiribam, Tamenglong & Pherzawl Districts of Manipur.
