Manipur will host the 105th Indian Science Congress in March next. As the Osmania University expressed its inability to host the mega event due to “disturbances on its campus and other reasons”, the organizers rescheduled the event and shifted the venue to Manipur Central University.
Manipur Central University VC Prof Adya Prasad Pandey announced this at a felicitation programme of Veteran Scientist of Manipur -2018 held at the Court Hall of the university on Monday. He appealed to all the departments to be ready to make the upcoming mega event a grand success.
Former head of Microbiology department RIMS Prof Ng Brajachand Singh was awarded with Veteran Scientist of Manipur–2018 for his contribution in the field of HIV detection, surveillance and monitoring the disease.
Addressing the programme education minister Th Radheshyam Singh congratulated the recipients of the award for their contribution in the field of science and technology. The minister was elated that he started the New Year with eminent scientists who are contributing tremendously in the area of research and development especially for Manipur.
“If we put our mind together and do research we can find solution in the society,” he said and assured that he would do his best under the guidance of chief minister to find solution for the availability of fund for research and development.
The function was attended by VC Prof Moirangthem Premjit Singh of Central Agricultural University, Iroishemba as guest of honour. The function was jointly organised by Manipur Association for the Promotion of Science (MAPS) & Research Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), IMPHAL. Head of the department of physics Prof N. Nimai Singh, president Prof Rajmuhan Singh, of MAPS and Dean of School of Mathematical and Physical Science MU also attended the function.
