Calcutta Customs entered into the quarterfinal round of the ongoing 38th All India Governor’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament here at Paljor Stadium on Friday.

In a keenly contested last pre-quarterfinal match, Calcutta Customs has edged past Rainbow SC, Kolkata in the tie-breaker. This is the second match in the tournament which has been decided in the tie-breaker after Sikkim Aakraman Football Club defeated Sagolband United, Manipur 4-2 in the tie-breaker on Thursday.

With equal possession of the ball throughout the match, both teams maintained pressure on each other with constant attacks and counter-attacks but missed some golden opportunities to take the lead. The first half ended in goalless draw. Both teams again failed to capitalise some good opportunities in the second half and the full time of the matched concluded goalless draw.

Twenty minutes extra-time game has again ended without any goal. Finally, the match entered into the tie-breaker through penalty shoot-out.

In the tie-breaker, Rainbow SC players managed to score just two goals out of five shots while Calcutta Customs players converted three shots into goals.

With this 3-2 win, Calcutta Customs will take on Manang Marsangdi Club, Nepal in the quarter-final on October 30.
