A popular Indian dancer and choreographer, Dharmesh Yelande is coming to judge the grand finale of Sikkim’s Dancing Icon 2018 season II to be held on Friday at Manan Kendra in Gangtok. He will be reaching Gangtok on Thursday evening.

Sikkim’s Dancing Icon is being organized by Ranipool based Creative Illusion Dexterity Studio in East Sikkim. Top six dancers each in junior and senior categories will take each other in the grand finale for the title.

Dharmesh Yelande will be assisted by another talented dancer, Mingma D Lepcha from Namchi, South Sikkim in the grand finale.  The theme of the competition is ‘Say no to Drugs and Yes to Dance’.

Addressing a press conference in Gangtok on Wednesday, the event manager Sangeet Pariyar mentioned that this is the second season of the competition and around 550 dancers from Sikkim and its neighbouring hills and some other parts of the country took part in the auditions of the competition this time.

He also informed that auditions and other rounds of the competition were judged by Sushma Yonzon and Shristi Pariyar.

He added that the grand finale will be judged by a renowned dancer and choreographer, Dharmesh Yelande and will be assisted by Mingma D Lepcha.

Pariyar stated that Creative Illusion Dexterity Studio has started Sikkim’s Dancing Icon last year to provide a bigger platform to youths to showcase their talent and further encourage them on the productive and creative path.

He stated that the competition was the annual event of the academy and will continue to give exposure to talented dancers. He expressed that dancing field has immense opportunities for dancers of Sikkim to make a successful career in it.

He also urged the people of the State to identify the skills and talents in their children and to send them to academies to further hone their talents.

The competition has cash prize, music video and other gifts for winners of the season II.
