An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale shook Northeast on Friday at 9.49 pm. The tremors were felt in parts of upper Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland besides Myanmar.

The quake with epicentre at 63 km south-east from Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh was on latitude 27.6 degree north and 86.6 degree east at a depth of 79 km, according to the Central Seismological Observatory in Shillong.

The quake lasting nearly a minute caused panic among the people who rushed out of their houses to the open spaces outside. No loss of life or property has been reported.
