:ย Tension prevailed in Kordoiguri village under Makum in Assamโ€™s Tinsukia district on Friday night after an Army team from the Ledo-Lekhapani military camp reportedly visited a local residentโ€™s house, triggering resentment among villagers.

According to local accounts, the team arrived at the residence following intelligence inputs allegedly provided by an informant.

The situation reportedly escalated when a person believed to be accompanying the Army team as an informant attempted to flee from the military vehicle amid growing opposition from residents. Villagers allegedly intercepted the person and handed him back to the Army personnel.

The incident drew a strong response from the Kordoiguri Suryamukhi Yuva Sangha, which expressed concern over the circumstances of the operation and what it described as the targeting of an innocent civilian.

Local sources said one person was initially taken away by the Army personnel. However, following the intervention of senior officials, the team reportedly returned midway and handed the person back to his family.

The incident caused concern among residents, with some recalling memories of alleged military excesses during the turbulent 1990s.

The episode has renewed questions about the verification of intelligence inputs, safeguards for civilians and the need for caution during security operations.

This report is based on information provided by local sources and accounts from the area. The allegations could not be independently verified, and official comments from the Army or police were unavailable at the time of filing.
