Guwahati: Flávio Bolsonaro, who lost Brazil’s presidential runoff election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has travelled to Ecuador via Argentina despite a Supreme Court order barring him from leaving Brazil, according to Argentine authorities.
Brazilian officials have not publicly confirmed the circumstances of his departure. Argentina’s migration directorate said Bolsonaro entered the country late on October 27 before boarding a private flight operated by Baires Fly.
The aircraft took off shortly after midnight from Puerto Iguazú, Argentina, and headed to Guayaquil, Ecuador, the directorate said.
The reported departure came despite a Brazilian Supreme Court order prohibiting Bolsonaro from travelling abroad and requiring him to surrender his passports.
Bolsonaro is also under investigation over alleged corruption and money laundering. He has not acknowledged electoral defeat following the October 25 runoff, which he lost to Lula.
