Doomdooma: The All Assam Studentsโ€™ Union (AASU) will hold a candlelight procession in Doomdooma in Assamโ€™s Tinsukia district on Thursday, October 29, demanding justice for the late Assamese singer Zubeen Garg.

The procession, organised by AASUโ€™s Tinsukia district unit following a state-level call, will begin at 5 pm from the Doomdooma Town Playing Field.

The event comes after the Gauhati High Court granted bail to two of the seven accused facing trial in connection with Gargโ€™s death.

Singer Amritprabha Mahanta was granted bail on October 9, followed by suspended Assam Police officer Sandipan Garg, the late singerโ€™s cousin, on October 16. On October 18, Special Director General of Police (CID) Munna Prasad Gupta said Assam Police would approach the Supreme Court to challenge the bail orders.

The case is being heard by a special fast-track court in Assam. On May 26, the court framed charges against all seven accused, including murder charges against four. The trial is ongoing, and the accused have not been convicted.

A separate inquiry into Gargโ€™s death was conducted in Singapore. On March 25, 2026, the State Coroner ruled that Garg died from accidental drowning and found no evidence of foul play.

The candlelight procession in Doomdooma will demand accountability and judicial justice.
