Dibrugarh: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday inaugurated the Naharkatia Multi-Sports Complex, built at an estimated cost of Rs 22 crore, adding new facilities for football, athletics and swimming to the stateโ€™s sports infrastructure.

The complex is expected to provide young athletes with access to training facilities and opportunities to develop their skills. The state government aims to expand sporting opportunities for talent from both rural and urban areas and help athletes compete at state, national and international levels.

Separately, an international-standard cricket stadium being developed under the initiative of the Assam Cricket Association is also expected to support cricket in the region.

The projects are part of broader efforts to expand sports infrastructure and improve access to training facilities across Assam.
