Dimapur: The Naga Studentsโ Federation (NSF) on Tuesday condemned the recent alleged drone strike by the Indian army on Langkho village located along the India-Myanmar border in the Naga self-administered zone.
In a release, the federation said the attack left two civilians, including a minor girl, injured and caused extensive damage to properties.
Expressing grave concern over the incident, it demanded immediate scrutiny, accountability, and an unconditional commitment to protecting human lives.
โThe targeting of a civilian-populated area raises serious questions concerning the principles of distinction, proportionality and precaution under international humanitarian law,โ the NSF said.
It called on the concerned authorities to provide a clear, transparent account of the incident.
It also demanded an independent, impartial and credible investigation to establish the facts, identify those responsible, and ensure appropriate accountability.
โCivilian lives are not expendable, and the suffering of innocent people cannot be dismissed as an unfortunate consequence of military operations,โ the NSF stated.
The federation further expressed its unequivocal opposition to the continued extension of the AFSPA across the Naga homeland, noting that the Union ministry of home affairs re-extended the AFSPA regime with effect from October 1, 2026, perpetuating the application of this extraordinary legislation across the Naga homeland.
According to the federation, this continued extension was met with profound dismay, as the imposition and continuation of AFSPA for decades has become an instrument of fear, insecurity, and alienation among the Naga people.
It demanded immediate revocation of AFSPA from the Naga homeland and an end to military actions that place civilians at risk.
