Durga Puja is a grand five day festival and feels incomplete without sweets especially Jalebi.

It is a tradition to see stalls preparing piping hot jalebis in its brilliant orange hues and ladles of ghee near Durga Puja pandals.

Moreover, it also isnโ€™t a surprise that jalebi sellers do brisk business during Durga Puja.

As per traditional beliefs including Ayurveda, eating warm, syrupy sweets like jalebi around the change of season into cooler autumn and winter helps the body adapt and provides quick energy after days of Navratri fasting.

However, there is a religious folklore associated with the mandatory eating of Jalebi on Dashami or Dussehra.

It is believed that Lord Ram loved a sweet dish called Shashkuli and it is a spiral variant sweet made with gramflour.

As a devout worshipper of Lord Ram, it is believed that Lord Hanuman used to make this sweet for Him.
