Dimapur: An eight-member central post-disaster needs assessment team from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) visited Nagalandโ€™s Mon district on Tuesday to assess damage caused by this yearโ€™s monsoon.

The team met officials of the district administration and concerned departments to assist in compiling and assessing the post-disaster needs of the district.

At a meeting at the Mon deputy commissionerโ€™s conference hall, DC Wennyei Konyak briefed the team on the damage caused by the monsoon. Representatives of various departments also presented details of the damage and submitted reports to the central team.

The team asked the departments to ensure that all actual damage was properly recorded as part of the assessment.

The central team comprised Mickey Mecon Dalbehera, scientist E, CBRI Roorkee; Rohit Kumar, assistant professor, National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM); Indranil Bose, senior consultant, infrastructure sector; Shashank Mishra, lead consultant, NDMA; Gagandeep Singh, assistant professor, NIDM; CP Mohan, senior consultant, productive sector; and Chandani P C Senan, senior consultant, NDMA.

L Jonhibemo Odyuo, assistant manager for relief, recovery and mitigation at the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, accompanied the team during the visit.
