Guwahati: A plane crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo has killed at least 14 people, including two senior military officers, according to the country’s military.
Those killed included Lieutenant General Mutombo Katalayi Tiende, who headed the military court, and Lieutenant General Bakumi Likulia, auditor general of the armed forces.
Military spokesperson Major General Efomi Ekenge said the other victims were 12 people who were part of the delegation or members of the aircraft crew.
The aircraft was flying back to Kinshasa from Kikwit in southwestern Congo when it developed a technical problem, local officials said.
It subsequently crashed in Kenge, killing everyone on board.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the crash, Ekenge said.
Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba, chairman of the board of the Civil Aviation Authority, said investigators had yet to establish what caused the aircraft to crash.
