Imphal: The Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) has strongly denied involvement in Thursday’s killing of four individuals at Pilong in Manipur’s Kamjong district near the Myanmar border.
In a statement released on Friday, the group categorically rejected allegations that its cadres crossed the international border or conducted operations within Indian territory.
Furthermore, the KNA-B disputed claims that the victims were innocent civilians.
The organization alleged that the deceased were actually cadres of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Isak-Muivah/Eastern Flank [NSCN (IM/EF)] engaged in cross-border drug trafficking.
According to the release, the four individuals were killed inside Myanmar during a drug-related incident.
The KNA-B claimed that NSCN (IM/EF) members subsequently transported the bodies across the border into India to falsely frame the incident as a civilian massacre on Indian soil.
Reiterating a strict zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics, the KNA-B stated that it prohibits the storage, transit, or trafficking of illegal drugs within its operational zones.
The group concluded by calling for an objective investigation, urging authorities to verify the location of the incident, the identities of the deceased, and the movement of the bodies through physical evidence rather than unverified claims.
