Imphal: The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has called a 24-hour emergency total shutdown in response to the killing of four Tangkhul Naga civilians at Pilong village in Manipur’s Kamjong district near the international border with Myanmar.
The shutdown began at 7am on Friday, September 25, and is scheduled to end at 7am on Saturday, September 26, according to an official TNL statement. The apex Tangkhul Naga body has called for strict compliance with the shutdown across its jurisdiction.
The TNL identified the four victims as Phami Jajo and Vareishim of Kangpat Khullen, Ningthem Kashak of Zingsui, and Betterson Jajo of Kangpat Khunou.
The organisation alleged that the four were targeted by the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) along with allied “narco-terrorist” groups at around 1.30pm on September 24 at Pilong, about 35 km from the Kamjong district headquarters.
The TNL said essential and emergency services, including medical care, power supply, fire services and funeral or condolence processions, would remain exempt from the shutdown.
