Doomdooma: The bronze statue of Lord Parshuram at the sacred Parshuram Kund in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lohit district, which stands 51 feet tall, is entering the final stretch, with finishing works and large-scale landscaping now underway ahead of its proposed unveiling during Makar Sankranti in January 2027.
Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said on Thursday that construction of the imposing statue had reached its final stage, with teams currently engaged in finishing and beautification works around the site.
The unveiling is proposed for January 15, 2027, coinciding with Makar Sankranti, when devotees from across the country traditionally converge on Parshuram Kund.
The massive bronze statue is expected to add a new dimension to the cultural and spiritual landscape of the pilgrimage centre, which holds significance for devotees and has also been promoted by the Arunachal Pradesh government as an important spiritual tourism destination.
The foundation stone for the ambitious project was laid by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 21, 2022.
Officials said the final phase includes landscaping and other aesthetic works in and around the statue complex. The broader objective is to preserve the religious and cultural importance of Parshuram Kund while improving its appeal for pilgrims and visitors.
Mein said the proposed unveiling during Makar Sankranti would mark an important milestone in the preservation and development of the spiritual heritage associated with Parshuram Kund.
