Guwahati: The Assam government has constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM) to examine recommendations concerning the protection, promotion and development of the Dimasa language, as outlined in the 2023 Memorandum of Settlement signed with the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) and Dimasa Peoples’ Supreme Council (DPSC).
According to an official order dated September 7, the two-member panel will review the report of a committee formed to examine issues related to the Dimasa language under Clause 5.1 of the 2023 settlement.
The GoM comprises Education Minister Ranoj Pegu and Hill Areas Minister Krishnendu Paul.
The ministers have been tasked with examining the recommendations made by the committee and considering issues related to the Dimasa language. Following the review, the panel will submit its recommendations to the state government for further action.
The order states that the GoM has been constituted specifically to examine the committee’s report on the “Protection, Promotion and Development of the Dimasa Language”, as provided under Clause 5.1 of the settlement.
The Hill Areas Department will provide secretarial assistance to the Group of Ministers during the process.
