Dibrugarh: Security forces have apprehended an alleged overground worker (OGW) of the outlawed United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) who was reportedly heading to Nagaland’s Mon district with the intention of joining the outfit, officials said.
The individual, identified as Shyamal Danah, son of Prahlad Danah and a resident of Thulai Chuk, Mahmora, Alikiner in Assam’s Charaideo district, was apprehended following a specific intelligence input.
According to officials, Danah was allegedly associated with ULFA-I as an OGW and had travelled towards Mon with the intention of joining the organisation.
Acting on the intelligence, a joint team of Charaideo Police, led by the DySP (HQ) and DySP (S), along with personnel of 20 Assam Rifles (E-Coy), proceeded to Mon district and apprehended him.
Danah was subsequently brought back to Charaideo for further investigation.
Police said necessary legal action would be initiated against him in accordance with the law.
