Guwahati: Two unidentified individuals allegedly hurled petrol bombs at the Laban police station in Shillong during the early hours of Saturday, September 12, raising security concerns in the area.
Police said the attack took place at around 2.30 am, when unidentified assailants allegedly targeted the police station with two petrol bombs. Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed the incident.
No police personnel were injured, and no major damage was reported, officials said.
The identities and motive of the attackers remain unknown. Police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible, while SP Vivek Syiem said no arrests had been made so far. Security has also been strengthened in the area as authorities continue their probe.
The incident comes amid heightened security concerns in Shillong following a series of incidents of violence and arson reported in the city and other parts of Meghalaya in recent weeks. Earlier incidents included petrol bomb attacks and damage to government property, adding to tensions in the state.
