Guwahati: A Chinese national trapped inside a tunnel at Nepalโs Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project for 10 days has been rescued alive on Saturday, the Nepali Army said.
The man, identified as Luhaitao, was located around 225 metres inside the tunnel by a joint rescue operation involving the Nepali Army and international rescuers.
Army spokesperson Rajaram Basnet confirmed that the rescue team successfully brought Luhaitao out of the tunnel alive. He was subsequently taken for a medical examination to assess his condition.
The rescue operation was underway at the Upper Trishuli-1 hydropower project following the devastating Bhotekoshi flood, amid reports that several people could still be trapped inside the project area.
Rescue teams have continued search operations at the site as efforts remain focused on locating and assisting anyone else who may have been caught in the disaster.
