Dimapur: The Nagaland government on Wednesday launched the Nagaland LabourChowk mobile application to streamline employment services and improve access to welfare schemes for building and other construction workers (BOCW) across the state.
Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen launched the application at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall in Kohima. The initiative has been developed by the Labour Department through the Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
The digital platform is aimed at connecting registered construction workers with employers while providing easier access to job opportunities, welfare benefits and skill development programmes.
The LabourChowk app seeks to give the traditional labour chowk system a digital upgrade, creating a more transparent and accessible mechanism for workers seeking employment and employers looking to hire skilled labour.
Through the platform, workers can register themselves, search for available jobs and access information on welfare and skill development services. Employers, meanwhile, can use the system to find and engage registered workers.
The initiative is also expected to improve transparency and service delivery within the BOCW system by bringing worker registration, job searches and labour engagement onto a single digital platform.
The Nagaland LabourChowk application is available for download on the Google Play Store. Construction workers can register through the app to access employment opportunities and other services offered through the platform.
Workers and employers can also use the LabourChowk online portal, labourchowk.nagaland.gov.in, to register, log in and access the available services.
The government expects the initiative to expand access to employment, welfare assistance and support services for construction workers across Nagaland through a technology-driven platform.
