Imphal: A three-day training programme for the final, fourth batch of enumerators and supervisors, organised in preparation for the upcoming Census 2027 Phase-I House Listing Operation (HLO) for the Churachandpur Charge, concluded on August 26 at the Training Hall of the SDO Office in Manipur’s Churachandpur.
The training programme was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner and Principal Census Officer of Churachandpur district. It was part of the preparations for the upcoming decennial census exercise, with a focus on digital data collection.
With the conclusion of the final training phase, district authorities have finalised the operational timelines. The House Listing and Housing Census operation is scheduled to begin on September 1, while the subsequent Population Enumeration Phase-II is scheduled for February 2027.
The training programme was conducted in four batches from August 12, with three days of training for each batch. A total of 197 participants, comprising 169 enumerators and 28 supervisors, completed the training.
The participants included educators from government primary schools, upper primary schools and local colleges.
Field trainers Lianminthang Samte, SDC (HQ), Satkhogin Kilong, SDC (HQ), and Janice T. Jingsol, Assistant Professor in the Department of English at Churachandpur College (Autonomous), conducted the training sessions.
The trainers provided instructions on digital tools, the roles and legal responsibilities of field functionaries, and the administrative structure of census implementation. The sessions also covered basic concepts and technical definitions related to the Census House Listing Operation.
The training also included practical sessions using the HLO Mobile Application for real-time data collection and electronic submission.
Participants were also guided through the preparation of the District Census Handbook, including demonstrations of the DCHB Mobile App and dedicated web portal.
The training programme aimed to equip enumerators and supervisors with the skills, procedures and standard guidelines required to carry out door-to-door data collection.
