The MP stated that officers posted in the district have an important responsibility towards the people and should make the best use of their authority for the overall development of the district.

Dimapur: Nagaland’s lone Lok Sabha MP, S Supongmeren Jamir, on Thursday called upon all departmental heads to remain accessible and responsive to the needs of the public.

He also called upon officers to ensure that the authority entrusted to them is not misused but exercised responsibly and in the larger interest of the district.

Chairing the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting at the Zunheboto DC’s conference hall, Jamir called on officers to remain at their respective places of posting and work with dedication for the welfare and development of the district.

He urged heads of offices not to restrict themselves to the duties assigned to their respective departments but to go beyond their designated roles whenever necessary to address issues affecting the district and its people.

The MP stated that officers posted in the district have an important responsibility towards the people and should make the best use of their authority for the overall development of the district.

He appealed to all heads of offices to remain at their places of posting and give their best in serving the people.

He further observed that the purpose of holding DISHA meetings would be undermined if heads of offices were not available at their respective places of posting.

MLA Sukhato A Sema, in his address, stated that his participation in the DISHA meeting was aimed at taking stock of the implementation of key central government schemes and assessing the progress of various development programmes at the grassroots level.

He called for closer coordination among elected representatives, the district administration and government departments to ensure the effective implementation of schemes and better delivery of public services.
